choose one deer rifle

308win for deer

I'd use my Savage 110E .308Win, good caliber for deer :D and many choices of bullets. But lots of other calibers would do the job, like my 303Brit which I have over 10 deers with from 20 to 200yds, it's just a matter of preferences.

I have to put my vote behind the 270 wsm in a good bolt rifle with a quality variable scope. Tikka, Sako, Win, Rem, Savage wearing a Leupold, Bushnell 4200, Burris, and of course the Euro glass.

7x57 mauser, 140 grain bullet. I have complete confidence in this set up for the conditions you describe.

As you've stated, for Deer and ranges, X2 for the 7x57 Mauser. Other than that or as a second choice, the good old '06.

:agree:

you can't got wrong with a 30-06. a gazillion different bullet options and EVERY place that sells ammo WILL have a box. so if you don't reload and never want to be without ammo seriously look at an 06. just my 2 cents

Out of the rifles I personally own? 7mm08 or 284, it's be a tough choice.

But, since I'm more interested in bullwinkle than smaller deer, I'd probably stick with my 338.

Aw, heck, forget it all, I'm keeping the 378. Flat like a 270, with the stomp of a 375

I change my mind!

I'll take this one cause it goes with the 4 wheeler:rockOn:

long range shooting is most usually limited by the shooter, not the cartridge. the 6.5 is certainly capable of taking deer out to 500 yards with a good load
