Choosing a 9mm SMG / Carbine

I'm pretty happy with my Storm. I paid the extra to get a non restricted bull barrel on it. Seems to like 147 grain 9mm. Also for take down/storage, there is one pin that separates the firearm into two equal pieces. It breaks down nicely and quickly.

As for "plastic" parts. The action consists of a large block of black steel. Yes there is polymer inside as well, but it doesn't seem to affect anything and most say polymer wears better than metal. So I don't think that's really a concern. Also even though it's mostly a polymer carbine, it still feels like a quality firearm. I can't say the same for some of the other choices here.

Here's another carbine that uses a metal action with polymer. No problems so far.

You listed plastic internals on the CX4 as a con. My experience with these guns is that they are more durable than many of the all steel guns out there. Also they are well thought out and as Epoxy7 stated they are easier to strip and clean than many of the others mentioned above.

ive owned the BRS99, and its a solid peice of gun that eats literally any load ive tried. accuracy isnt horrible either. now that tactical imports have the top rail version, it should only be better. its also about 2/3 the weight of a BXP. Tac imp's can get loads of spare parts and mags, their service is top notch.

upside to the BXP, which ive only had a short while, is you can use modded uzi mags, which seem halfway common, but the gun is heavy aand spare parts would be near impossible to find.

ive never owned, but got to try a FAMAE SAF 9mm a few times, great gun, but apparently parts/mags are rare as dinosaurs to support it.

Ruger PC 9

They don't make them any more, but there are some out there. Restricted, but use 10-round Ruger pistol mags and are built like a tank.

I wish they made a Ruger 10/22, except in 9mm. I guess that is what the PC 9 was... But all these pistol caliber carbines look very "evil black gun"... I don't have anything against that of course, but I wish there was an in-production option for a 9mm carbine that looked like a normal rifle.

I've decided that I would like to purchase a 9mm SMG or Carbine and have narrowed down a few options taking my student's budget into account. As I said before, any comments, opinions, or experiences relating to this would be great! Thanks!

What do you intend to do with it?

I want something cheaper to shoot (hence the 9mm), but something fairly compact, more accurate than a pistol. I would be using it to hit pistol caliber metal silhouette targets anywhere from 25 to up to 100m, but im ok with having the max range under 100 to have a more compact firearm. I already own a 16" ar 15 and something of a different platform would be fun.

I've got a BRS99 and a Sask Sten MK3 Both are a joy to shoot. The brs I just picked up from interammo. Got it shipped across the country in a couple of days. I'm not sure if the sask sten is even manufactured anymore, I picked mine up on the milsurp exchange. Too bad because its easier to get parts and accessories for the sten than the brs.

I wish we could still get Uzi carbines.I've wanted one ever since I was kid. God damn Alan Rock and all his minions to the lowest level of hell.

I think the ########s are still being manufactured. I saw a non restricted version at a gun show, it looked unusual. :D

I'll add the Thureon Defense to this thread.

9MM Non-Restricted Carbine that uses SMG mags. It actually comes with one 32 round UZI mag pinned at 5. 10 Round mags are on the way, or you can order some LAR15 mags from Questar and modify them a bit.

Some people think its ugly but I love it.
