Choosing first handgun

Trigger pull is second to none. Recoil nearly non-existent.

Whoa there tiger, take it easy, lol.

The trigger is good, no doubt, but second to none? Also, the PPX has a high bore axis and muzzle flip is definitely an issue. When all is said and done it's a decent handgun.

Wife just got a PPX, nice gun for the money, I think it has a nice trigger and fairly good ergonomics, good deal on the range kit. It just doesn't push all the buttons for me, but it's all personal anyway. If it were me, I would add the Canik Tp9sa to the list and have a look, around the same price, only two mags is a drawback, but I enjoy shooting it way more than the PPX, but once again, that is a personal thing, and if you go with the PPX I'm sure you will be happy!

Everyone has their personal favorites and what works for them. I have found that after buying 20 or so handguns that some work extremely well for me, accurate, feel good etc, while others not so much in my hands. If I was to do it over again, I would wait until I could shoot the firearm before buying which isn't always easy to do. No regrets, love them all, just some work/feel better.

Having endless options is not always good lol...
Although I think the ppx is very good value for the price. As soon as all the papers are ready I'll order one.
I really appreciate all the advice

...I am getting my first handgun, I have a hard time choosing though. After weeks of research I have it narrowed down at least. The Ruger 9e, Walther ppx, Sig Sauer p250, and a surplus Beretta 92s. The two front runners are the walther and sig. I'm on a budget as you probably noticed.

I notice you mention one striker-fired, two hammer-fired, and one OBSOLETE hammer-fired. I'd scratch the obsolete one from your list right off the bat.

Initial cost of the pistol is insignificant when you factor in the cost of magazines, holsters, and replacement parts. Don't allow a marginally-lower initial pistol price to dictate your purchase decision. In the big picture, the cost and availability of magazines, holsters, and replacement parts - and the more-likely long-term availability of them - is a much more important consideration.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

I suggest that you look at:

the S&W M&P9 M2.0, and; the Sig Sauer P320/P320C, and; the Glock 17/ Glock 19.

You should go with what you like the best. What feels best in your hand? Are you new to shooting or are you an experienced shooter? Its all personal preference. I just got my RPAL in Ontario for the first time in April but have been shooting and have owned guns for 20 years in the USA. My preference is big bore firearms. I ordered 5 guns in Canada right after I got my license. A 9mm S&W SD9VE, a S&W M&P 45, a GSG 1911-22, a S&W 629 44 magnum and a S&W 500 magnum. I do most of my shooting with the 44, 500, and 45. My fiance loves the 22. The 9mm is fun and eats cheap. Good luck with your choice.

sounds like you guys got it covered. my first handgun way back was a 4inch .44mag from astra (sp). wish I had of kept it, I'd have the prohib right now lol. but looking back, what a horrible choice.
go with the feel, if you like it, buy it. not too many problems with any of the manufacturers you're looking at.
good luck, and have fun.

There is a glock m22 gen 4 for sale in excellent condition for $699. It's in 40s&w. Would that be the best option?

Greetings everyone. I am also new to this forum and I saw this thread. I am looking to purchase a Sig P250 as my first handgun because I like the DAO trigger for safety reasons.

I've got Glock, Beretta, Sig, CZ and soon to have the new m&p 2.0 in .45 (got it for 559 too! Too good of a deal to pass up so I figured why not)

All have been great for me some have better ergonomics than others and it's really what you want it to do for you and either a lefty or righty and what fits your hands....

First one for me was a Glock 17c still have it and it was the first of many to follow.....

Same here I started with a Glock 17 and it still has a warm spot in my heart

I have to wait for the paper work to get done, everyone see another gun I get sidetracked lol
