Hi, im choosing my first gun. Desided to go for a nice .22 rimfire for target shooting. I was interested in buying a Cz, but i am not sure wich one to get. Have around 500$ to spend, herd that for that money i can get a good one. I've been eyeing out the 452 varmint and the 455 lux. Witch one is more accurate? Any + or - for any of em? How about the 455 american? I'm thinking of buying optics so no open sights is no problem.

I chose the 452 American w/ a 16" barrel. From reading lots on the net and talking with alot of 22 rimfire guys the 16" barrel is optimum for velocity and accuracy. Ive only got the one 22 so I can't compare to the others but its a tack driver. I installed the "YoDave" trigger shims and have no creep and breaks like glass. Excellent choice for a new 22LR

Cheers!!

Here is a target I shot yesterday with my 22.5" bbl american and a 16" bbl american that I had up for sale in the EE but decided to keep it and removed the ad.Boy did I make the right deccesion :D .the target speaks for its self :D

Yea the 16" seems to be the best choice. Any idea where i can get a 452 american with a 16" barrel? Pretty much every place that i look sells it with the 22" one.

The best 5 shot groups with my 452 Lux so far (@ 50 yards):

0.25" AE 38gr
0.31" Federal Champion
0.37" CCI Blazer
0.43" Win. Dynapoint

This rifle will shoot under 1/2" groups with bulk ammo all day.

buy a 452 no matter what model as they are tack drivers! But Do Not buy a 455 as anything that is switch barrel will ussually not as accurate, also this gun is not as well built as the 452! Dale in T-Bay

A 16" 452 american or 452 varmint then i guess! Dont rly like the idea of the switch barrel on the 455 either, and if they are not as well built as the 452's then that pretty much made my choice. I will most probably go see both the varmint and american when i get my PAL (hopefully soon, when will those lazy bums get off their ass and process my form )

Lots of 452s still out there. The barrel does not have sights so it would be an easy one to just cut down it you are so inclined. Shorten, recrown and shoot.

Cz 452

I also struggled with which model to buy. I settled on the 452 Varmint, had a shorter but beefy 21" barrel. I'm not shy of a heavy rifle, and this one is pretty chunky, the idea being, a little more weight, more accurrate off the bags..wrong..ths rifle will shoot easy 1/2 in groups all day long..but so will the lighter American. They all shoot really well, so, fit and portability should be the deciding factor. I changed the trigger and put in a Timmney..no regreats, however, as much as I like the heavier rifle, I would take the American model next time..maybe the 453 with a set trigger.

Well im really not sure what to get between the american or the varmint, will probably make the choice on the spot after having handled both of them. 6.8 lbs does not seem TOO much, but maybe the lighter american is a better idea. But i still love the stock and barrel on the varmint :p

I don.t think you would be dissapointed with the american .I bought both of mine from sakoalberta .super guy to deal with .
as you can see from the targets above they both shot very well and the 16"bbl probly still is not broke in yet .its only got a couple hundred rounds through it.rembolt

Bought both my CZ452 American and CZ527 American from Reliable here in Vancouver. Everybody in the store shoots a CZ of one description or another. Both rifles identical weight although the 527 is a centerfire. Excellent quality on any of them and a delight to shoot.
