


This comes up about every 2 weeks. Most of the regular gunsmiths have said their piece. The ones with manufacturing licences have all said they cannot cut down an existing barrel although they can make one from scratch. I have asked the cfc when I built a couple of my own guns and they said they do not differentiate between restricted or non restricted rifles and shotguns when it comes to chopping a barrel. Under 18" or 18 1/2(for semis)= prohibited device. Can they tell? In some cases absolutely. Some cases probably not. One thing though, if you have ever seen any of the weapons parades the police do on tv is that if you get caught they take everything (it makes a better photo op). So is it worth it.
