Chopping a six inch barrel

Did a quick search but couldn't find the answers I'm looking for. If I have the local Smith cut an inch and a half from a 6 inch revolver what are the implications? I assume I would need the firearm re-verified and re-registered with the new barrel length? Has anyone gone through this process?

As long as the barrel is still of legal restricted length no big deal at all.

Yes it does need to be re-registered and the gunsmith should be a verifier so once again no big deal he will do the verifying and notify the CFC for re-registration.

You can also go with Barry J at Bits of Pieces in Delta. Very reasonably priced and a true craftsman. He does very nice work indeed.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do; the gun is already on the way and I've talked to Jason Spencer about doing the work; I just want to know more about the legalities of the modification.

Unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able to participate in Dec 1 match (####TY FOR ME!). I imagine I'll have the modification done over winter and ready to go for spring.

I would give yourself a larger buffer than 1mm, just to be safe from varience in measuring systems.

That is a beautiful revolver, i like the barrel length. I want to get a s&w 686 or a ruger gp 100 and have that done.
