Ok guys walk me through this please!:
I have a really good machinist, but he is not a gunsmith. What does he need to do to ensure the crown is correct and it doesnt screw up the accuracy, after he lops off the barrel and needs to "finish" off the crown?
PLug the barrel with jacketed bullet turned upside down. Drive bullet to where you will cut the barrel, so when you cut it bullet will support chrome lining and prevent flaking. Then make one final clean cut moving cutter from center to outside to make nice and clean crown.
If you are chopping barrel then there is no need for labour intensive flash hider removal work - just chop it off with hacksaw or something. Amputation in other words. Never look back.
Someone mentioned my shooting technique - that was a joke by the way. "Close my eyes and squeeze the trigger" is my fav line.
