Hey everyone just looking for some opinions from the long range guys. I have been looking for a stock and I seen the chote stocks and I like the tactical stock from chote but was wonder of the quality. And if they a a good stock for the price.

Or should I look at HS precision or McMillan and so on

Any thought would be great

Another stock to consider in this lower price range is the Archangel - though I've only used the one they make for the M14 they do make one for the R700. Back to the HS Precision stocks, they are good but they are bettered, imo, by B+C.

This is all great stuff thanks everyone I'm new to long range so im loving this. I know that all these stocks have aluminum bedding systems in them. But is there anything else to do to make it better ?

Eg Glass bedding on top of the aluminium bedding the stock has?

You should always bed your rifle for 100% fit whether its an aluminum chassis, has a bedding block or already has pillars from the factory.

I have the Choate tactical with a V block, (non adjustable cheek, 4.25 spacing, blind mag) and my action sat slightly to one side and made hard barrel contact in the channel.
I skim bedded for fit and its 100% now.

I love my Choate stock, especially for the money!! I've been running it 5 years now on my 260 and it's never done me wrong.

I had the Varmint in a Savage long action. Ugly, heavy, and not the greatest finish quality. It also had a few flaws in it's ergonomics, the pistol grip was the worst offender.

The price is right though and they appear/feel like they are VERY durable. At the price point I wouldn't have any reservations about taking the Dremel to it if I got to the point I couldn't stand the offending part.

I would not hesitate to buy another.
