Chris Costa Just Went Full Retard (video is back up!)

I enjoy the series The Walking Dead, but I'm not ready for another year of 'ZOMBIE-MANIA'. The logos on scopes and fake blood paint jobs on ARs last year were the limit for me. Oh yeah, ZOMBIE AMMO, Bahaha, That still breaks me up!

So was that a trailer for a new movie, tv show, training course? Wtf! One thing is for sure, great viral campaign.

Costa lived a life of action and adventure. Then he got into the consulting aspect of the shooting world and made a pile of money, had fun and got famous. Now he's doing what most of us wish we could do: play at zombie games, play with cool toys and make another big pile of money. I don't know what part makes him a full retard. I think he is living the life...

P.S.

I'd still bet on Costa in any shooting situations before I'd bet on any of you who cut the man down. He talks the talk but he also walks the walk.

"Operation Z" is a 12-part series that prepares citizens for the devastation that could befall us. The first two volumes, focused on firearms training, will be unveiled at a launch party Friday night at the Soapbox in downtown Wilmington.

While a horde of undead brain-suckers may never roam the streets of the Port City, Smith uses the zombie as a metaphor to heighten an interest in preparation.

Smith got his start working on films and TV series in Wilmington. He then started Legion Productions, which produced shows such as "Top Sniper," "Top Sniper II," "Modern Sniper" and "Sniper Comp."

Have you noticed a theme?

In the first volume of "Operation Z," Smith takes five untrained citizens (a school teacher, a professional single mom and a college student among them) and puts them through a course with firearms expert Chris Costa.

The unscripted format allows participants to ask questions that other untrained citizens might have.

Future volumes of "Operation Z" will cover emergency medical training and explore some emergency situations in which government agencies might not be available to provide immediate help.

"Wilmington is not going to be a federal government priority in the event of a national emergency," Smith said.

As desperation sets in, and with limited resources available to help, survival instincts motivate everyday citizens.

"If this sort of thing were to happen, when people have their backs against the wall, they come up with ingenious ideas," Smith said.

Well after you see him remake every training video out there and try and force his "tactical monkey grip" and other habits on everyone like he is god and nobody else knows anything.......he starts to get on your nerves.

Add to that just hopping on every gun trend band wagon just to make a few bucks........does more need to be said??

I wouldn't necessarily say he's walked the walk. He spent his time in the Coast Guard, and to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't smoked anyone. Travis Haley on the other hand has. Both as a United States Marine, and as a private contractor. I think Costa is taking any work he can get, because his off shoot company Costa Ludus, isn't panning out quite like Haley Strategic is. Costa has skills, the guy can run a gun, as long as its an AR, based on what Magpul preaches/teaches. At the end of the day Haley has a much greater profile than Costa, which makes him(Haley) far more desirable.

As for the preview. It looks interesting, whatever it is.

I'll say one thing about this and leave it alone. The one thing that both Costa and Haley have stressed over and over, in all their training videos is that everyone has different body mechanics and abilities and therefore everyone should adopt the shooting style that best suits them, which seems to me to be the exact opposite of what you're saying. The last thing I've got from watching the material that these guys put out is that they try to force anything on anyone.

Costa was with the Coast Guard but not just boating around Venice Beach but rather conducting counter-drug operations and special operations all over the world: Europe, the Middle East, and South America etc. He was part of Taclet North. Those guys are bad asses and see a lot of dangerous maritime action.

Now, I'm not in love with the guy or anything but he has serious abilities as an operator and as an instructor and he is apparently a very humble and fun guy to hang with...

I don't doubt he's seen some scary sh*t, but I don't believe he's ever shot someone. Time spent boarding vessels with the Coast Guard isn't quite the same as having been in Iraq, just saying. The pedigree attached to the CG as opposed to contractors and/or ex MIL folks who've deployed are not equal. I would still take a course with Costa, the guy is hilarious and definitely seems like a laid back easy going dude.

I don't think either is necessarily doing as well separately as they were together under the Magpul banner.

I don't doubt it. We're just having a bit of fun with the whole Zombie/action-figure thing. ;)

I seem to have read in the past about how lots of members were hoarding gun and ammo for the "zombie appocolypse"

Always thought the "zombie appocolypse" was code for when law and order broke down and the mass public went wild. Instead of shooting the people rioting/looting, you would be shooting "zombies"

Now that a (training?) video is out, everyone is laughing about it. Guess its the cool thing to do.

I got 5 of the 7 Magpul video series. Watched 2 hour and 25 minutes of the first DVD in the handgun course. I tried a grip shown in the video. My double taps tightened up from 5" apart to semi consistantly 2-3" Laugh and make fun of me all you want. I was open minded enough to go against the norm around here and try to learn something new. And it paid off for me.

You guys.................. Laugh2
