Christensen Ranger - Who Has One Need Feedback

So I'm looking to buy one in .22LR and possibly use for competitive PRS, but I need real-time feedback from owners. And I do have a CZ 457 Varmint Precision Chassis which shoots lights out so don't need recommendations to go another way.

This rifle has some pretty bad reviews of various issues which the factory fixes but I don't want to send to and fro a new rifle that has issues. Any of you nutters have one and what has been your experience with reliability and accuracy? And can the rail be changed out for a 20 or 30 MOA and if yes, who's? Can the stock be lengthened with spacers and again who's? And can an ARCA rail fit on the front or does it take a bit of drilling new holes in the stock to make work?

My buddy had one for a few months and it was a fun plinker but nothing spectacular..

Out of curiosity, why would you consider this over something more established in the PRS rimfire world like a CZ 457 or Tikka? The Ranger is over $1K and you can find many other options in that price point. Not only that, but finding spare parts for the upkeep will be more difficult for it. You'll also need spare mags, not sure how available the ranger mags are.

I have one, I absolutely love it.

It is stupid accurate with eley ammo, more so than I can shoot and the number of grouse and rabbits it’s harvested me this year is high!

That being said it’s not a competition gun by any means.
It’s a fancy hunting .22 that would be crushed by dedicated rigs.

My ONLY complaint is the bolt feels slightly wobbly but hasn’t effected the gun one bit and I’m pretty sure I was one of the first to have my hands on it north of the border.

Light and accurate, looks great too.

I’m just exploring other .22 options, although I’m now leaning towards TX1.

If you're wanting to get more accurate than the CZ, you're best path forwards would be into Anschutz land. The T1X will be fine, but I likely wouldn't use for PRS. Accuracy should be very similar to the CA Ranger.

Ordered the Tikka T1X in std. factory layout. Going to add a PRS stock from the many options out there and start a build from there. It will be interesting once I’m done to see what accuracy I can wring out of the Tikka platform.

Christensen looked like an interesting rimfire that has some potential, hence my initial question about real life experience with the Ranger.

It’s insanely reliable. Never an issue FFT or ejecting. It’s insanely accurate (more so than I am) but I can stack tenex into the same group all touching at 50 yards easy and I’m no pro by any means

It’s light , handy and nice in the hands

All around worth every dollar I just wouldn’t try to compete with it as there’s lots more options that would suit that better.

Had high hopes for mine as a light weight match rifle for my son. Accuracy didn't meet my standards. Results from a 457 with CCI SV surpassed the CA with all sorts of SK and Eley match ammo.

Feeding was hit and miss. Was expecting more from the TT trigger, but the "field" trigger is nothing like a TT Special or Diamond. Could not get it below 3lbs.

Would make a great lightweight small game hunting rifle, but promptly replaced it with a 457 that we built up as a much better lightweight match rifle and never looked back.
