chrome bore 858 non restricted

60 rounds down my 858 and i have to use about 60 patches and then 20 patches to get the copper out then another 30 patches to come out nice and clean.

take care of your rile jezz
Holy crap!! Like curtton I use about 4-8 patches in total including the last oil drenched one. Then before I fire it again I run a dry patch through to get all the storage oil out of the barrel. Mind you, I do run about two liters of boiling water through before the rifle gets cleaned.

i am going to try the boiling water method...and the 130 some od patches...

well problem solved i believe the gun can run dirty and shoot just fine without the chrome but i found myself a restricted vz58s with military markings and chrome bore.. pretty excited to get her in the mail, not excited about having to talk to mom and dad every time i want to play with my girl.

Do you need to borrow the keys to the car to get to the range?

I mean when the soldiers oiled their gun after cleaning, i guess they did no take time to wipe the bore if they need their guns in a hurry ? so any danger with a slighty oiled bore?
Well, you should be cleaning any excess gunk or oil out of the barrel prior to shooting. The increase in pressure could cause very bad things to happen. But honestly, I only ever leave a very very light coat of CLP in my barrels and I usually just shoot them without wiping the bore out. The first shot is never bang on because of this, but meh. Cold barrel shots from a cleaned out barrel aren't either.

Get socks to cover your guns

I dont know if there is many people letting oil sit in their barrel but as for me,i clean my guns thoroughly and after my guns are clean,i run patches in the barrel until they come out totally dry and with no residue whatsoever on them.

Then i cover all my guns with protective socks, these are trully a great tool for storage, short and long term.

Cabela's has some,look them up!

I shoot pretty regularly and leave only a film of oil in the bore after cleaning. I've never felt the need to wipe it out before shooting. Besides; the smoke that comes off it after that first shot makes you look like a BAMF.

Only if you loaded it up with a heavy oil or grease for long-term preservation would cleaning it out prior to shooting be necessary. If you're concerned, do as Stevo, and boresnake it before you hit the mound.
