Chrome lined barrel vs steel, questions.

Another way is ask the guy at the counter if it is chromed lined or not.That and it can't be a real gun store with out at least two experts hanging around just waiting for a guy to ask for their advice.

Ask them what sort of spring cover scope rail they would recommend while you are at it.

chrome lined is good for longevity but nothing is wrong with a non chrome lined if you clean it properly. Are you pouring boiling water down the barrel after every shooting session followed by some solvent and finally some gun oil? If so the barrel should not be rusting. I think you may need to concentrate on better cleaning methods before worrying about getting a second sks. My $.02

Dry it with a heat gun after the water or other parts will rust, like under the sights.

The blueing doesn't stick to chrome so it will look like the one on the left, a bare metal barrel will looks like the one on the right

I find sometimes a non chromed will have all bare metal crown with no blueing, but you can definitely tell the chrome ones as there is a transition ring on the inner part of the crown.
