Does anyone have experience with the Chrome plating of an AR 15 bolt and carrier?

ie./ shops that do it, will this process put the bolt out of spec. dimensions.

Thanks,
Jeff

You can ask to have the surface pre ground undersize and then have the surface flash chromed back to size. Flash chrome goes on even and does not require grinding afterwards.

You might already have it, but dont know it. The exterior of the bolt carrier doesn't matter, it's the interior that matters. Most bolt carriers are chrome plated/lined, like Colt & Bushmaster. Both my Bushmasters have chrome bore/chamber & bolt carrier

That way when you clean your AR properly, it runs silky smooth. The bolt group in the most important part of the AR platform for 100% reliability. I use a .45 cal bore brush with solvent, then degreaser in spray can, then WD-40, wip dry with q-tip inside. Then the part of the bolt were the gas rings which makes contact with the interior of the carrier is silky smooth.

Make sure the interior of the carrier is not heavily oiled or whatever, because after 100 rounds it will become gummy with GSR/fouling and thats when you get malfunctions. Clean your AR & bolt group properly and you'll NEVER have any problems :)
