chronied 6.5x55 129 partition load RL22

Just got back from flinging alot of money over the chrony and had some results I thought might be of interest.

In a 98 action started off at 47 grains of reloader 22 and worked up 53 grains which is a full to the top case. 53 grains gave 2900 fps which is what we wanted. No pressure signs, mild recoil.

Accuracy tests tommorow.

Running RL22 thru a T3 Varmint with 140 gr match rounds gave the highest velocity readings by 100 to 150 fps, however accuracy was better with H4350 and better yet, surprisingly, with Varget.

All of mine seem to be doing just fine with varget, yet to try RL22 though.

I get sub MOA groups with 47 grains of IMR7828 140gr bullet ,velocity around 2650 to 2700 fps with a swedish M96.

I tried Varget, IMR 4831 & H380 with 140gr Hornady's Sp and went to R22 which gave best groups outta my T3 Lite, I'll check my data book for velocities.
R22 seems to be a favourite for this cal & bullet wt.

Using a 140 gr Sierra Game King, 43.7 gr RL22 in a milsurp 6.5x55 gave me 2,610 fps. The same load in my Remington 700 Classic produced 2,530 fps.

Accuracy is all that matters. Velocity is only needed for making long distance drop charts, but you can do that by measuring the drop yourself.

BTW, No book is going to accurately tell you how fast your bullet is going. According to the "book" my 260 and 6mmBR rounds should be going 250-300 fps slower than they really are.

53 grains seems like a lot of r22 in the swede.

My loads with the same bullet stopped at 50 grains.

Actually, 53 grains of Reloder 22 with a 125 Partition seems OK.
Norma's original loading with the 139 grain bullet was 51 grains of Norma MRP, a very similar powder.
This gave close to 2850 with the heavier bullet.
Additionally, 2900 is not a surprising velocity with 125-129 grain bullets.
I have a M700 Classic in 6.5x55. [It is on it's 3rd barrel, so has been shot a lot]
I get 3000 with the 125Partition with no pressure signs at all, and stellar accuracy, using a Higginson powder that is a slow version of W760.

My hunting load with a Tikka M65 is 48gr. of RL-22 pushing a 140gr. Partition using winchester brass. Ill be playing around with Norma brass that fell into my lap if I ever have time.

I use RL 22 to push 140gr SST's in my swedes. I was put on to it by another 6.5x55 shooter before I ever got my own rifle, and it was the first powder I tried. Haven't really experimented with much else...
