Well I just reassembled my crossbow to get ready for upcoming turkey season. I had just bought a new chrono and thought it would be a good time to chrono the bow as well as sight it in. I'm shooting an Excaliber Exomax with 135 grain wasp broadheads on carbon fibre bolts. With the string tension set to the factory hatch mark on the body of the bow I was acheiving 346 FPS. I removed the one end of the string and gave her one full twist to tighten it more and shot again. The arrow's impact was 3 inches higher at 40 yards but the FPS did not change at all, still 346. This doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, higher impact on target should mean a little faster.
I ended up putting the string tension back to the lower setting because I figured why stress the limbs if I dont have to and still acheive the same speeds. I encourage you all to try this experiment with your bows and see if the results are simular
