Was at the range yesterday chronographing some loads for a friend. I had my JR carbine with me (.45 ACP version) so I figured I might as well chrony it as well since it was all set up.

So, shooting a Berry 185 gr. Round Nose over an Oehler 33 chronograph with an 18 inch barrel, here are the results: 10 shots fired gave an average velocity of 1250 fps. I was using 7.7 gr. of Unique, CCI LP primers and an assortment of WW and R-P brass. I didn't correct to the muzzle, was 10 feet back.

Next time out I will chrony some 230 RN's and HP"s for the fun of it. So now you know. :)

Thanks for that I look forward to the results with the 230rn. This is my next gun purchase - as soon as I can get one that takes 1991 mags.

You might have to settle for the 1911 mags.:D Be a while before those come out. My Glock mags work well. I ordered two from JR with the modified springs and modified my original as well. No issues.

What would make it really interesting;

Chrono your JR-Carbine and your handgun side-by-side, with the same ammunition.

It would be great to see exactly what effect barrel length will have on a .45-ACP round.

Hmmm, that would be easily done. I think the same bullet/load is rated at about 850-900 fps in my Colt Series 70 Govt. Model. Only one way to find out. Stay tuned. :)
