Chronographing Shotgun shells

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to put some of my handloads over the Chrono and was wondering if anyone had any experience/tips doing it?

I believe the instructions said to shoot from 3 feet, and was obviously planning on shooting at paper at the distance first, but I believe the shot should all still in the wad at that distance?

3' you will blow the diffusers off most. Stay 5-6' back and you will be fine
I chrono my loads quite often and have yet to shoot my chrony
Altho once I get a windless day ima use it with my cross bow at various ranges so we'll see what kind of person I am

Take a piece of cardboard and draw an outline of the inside of your <the thing you shoot through> on the chronograph. Shoot that first and see what happens.

The rule of thumb is that the pattern will open up about one inch for each yard of range, but it only takes one goofy pellet out of the pattern to spoil your day. The most consistent thing about the shotgun is that its inconsistent.(Clint Smith)

Take a piece of scrap 3/4" ply wood and cut a hole in it say 6" in diameter. Place your crony behind the ply wood and shoot through the hole.
