I find myself once again in need of a chronograph. Long story, as to why, no I didn't shoot mine lol.

Since $$ is very hard to come by these days, and the Oehler is not only expensive but hard to find a 35P, I have been perusing models that are easier on the wallet. Unless I can find a good used 35P for a similar price to the cheaper ones I would be all over it

Anyone have some experience comparing a few like the PACT pro XP, the RCBS, shooting chrony, etc.. I like the specs on the PACT. Just don't know if my OCD could get used to a chrono that doesn't verify itself. Lol

I purchased a CED m-2 Chrono this summer and like it very much and if you happen to shoot the wings it's not a throwaway as the main control is near you..

I agree. I purchased a CED M2 this summer also, it's a great chronograph with decent (not great) software.

Another vote for the CED M2. I've been using one for about 4 years now and it has been reliable and repeatable. The drop charts tend to agree.

I have used my Chrony for over thirty years now, for everything from my bows, handguns and rifles. Money well spent !!

Magnetospeed sporter... in the same price range as the CED. Seems to work more reliably

Give me a shout.

CED is also possible.... just think the MS is a better product for the money spent.

Much like a few of the people above, I have the CED and really like it. I looked at the MS Sporter, and while it would be great for my rifle, I could not figure out how to make it work for my handguns unless I went with the full MS and the "rail attachment" which would have ultimately been significantly more money than the CED.

That was the single determining factor for me. If I only had a rifle, I would have bought the MS Sporter, but since I have both a rifle and handguns, I opted for the CED.

+1, mine is still working after 25 years, the cutouts have been replaced, and shot once (not by me). cost me $80 back then

I'm sure you know my thoughts on this topic........don't waste your money, save up enough to get the 35P, buy it once and never look back and you never have to question your purchase. JMHO
Anything Chrony is junk IMHO and I have had 3 different ones. Light changes and velocity for the same load from the same rifle changes by 200 fps.......absolutely unacceptable to me.

I have the CED-M2 winnings from a LR shoot. I find it to be very good, however you must be aware of lighting when using these. Direct sunlight on only one of the difussers will give incorrect readings or a fault. Over all they are very good, and fills my needs for determining velocity's, etc.

I do load development through the chronograph. With several rifles per session, I really don't want a non adjustable barrel harmonic tool hanging off the end. Might not work so well on full stocks either.

I don't shoot at public ranges, and can leave my whole setup right where it is year round. So I don't are about setup or takedown, and I am in no ones way.

I'll probably take Dougs advice and just wait til I can afford another 35P, hopefully there will be one available at that time lol.

Many are going to the Labradar for accuracy and simplicity of use.

I have a couple of friends that did not have this experience. Quite the opposite in fact, they said that it was finicky to tune and didn't work well with braked rifles. Also you should be able to drop a chronograph down and be able to shoot over/through it and get immediate results, not have to tweak the chronograph to make it work with your rifle/set up.
