how much does a chrony run you anyway i think it would cool to test velocities out of your gun and once i get better at reloading if love to try to work up some loads but you kinna need some way to emasure velocity for that eh?;)....

I just ordered the Shooting Chrony F-1 from Cabelas Canada (SIR)

They have them for $99.99 which is the cheapest I have seen so that's why I went with them.

I have reloaded for several years but this winter I have upgraded a lot of my equipment and I felt that a chrony was an essential part to include in my upgrade.

Unfortunately I have to worry about shooting it now as they say that there are those who have shot their chrony and those who will:redface:

Shoot your test loads off of a bench rest and go with the best groups. I load 5 rounds of each. Haven't got a chrony yet myself. It is important to see velocity if you are trying to make power factor for ISPC/IDPA

Velocity will also give you a better indication as to whether you are getting close to max pressures. More so than sticky bolts and extractor imprints.

I could not imagine trying to work up a load without my Chrony, as mentioned above, I use it determine how safe a load is and how its performing. I cant complain about the inexpensive F-1 Chrony I have.

Another train of thought about Chorny's is speed does not = accuracy. If you have a load that will hold less than 1 MOA elevation out to 1000 yards, do you really care how fast it is?
I would put a Chorny in the "nice to have" column not the "must have" column.
