Chrony purchase advice?

I'm going to buy a chrony this week, likely the Beta Master.

First I'm wondering if it is worth the extra for the remote, do those of you that have it find it an advantage?

Second, if you do have the remote, is the accessory clamp a good idea, or can you just sit it on the bench without much problem?

Do any retailers have better deals than buying it direct from Ontario?

TIA

For me the F-1 and a pad of paper works just as well as one with a remote. The display on the F-1 is easy to see at 10 -15 feet which is about as far from the bench as you would ever want to set it up.

Having a remote monitor is an advantage.
Having a remote is NOT mainly a matter of seeing the numbers on your monitor from 15-ft. Being able to control and manipulate your chrono from 15-ft while everyone with you behind the bench are shooting down range will save you from waiting until the next "range is safe" command is declared. Trust me, been there done that! I've had that experience that I will need to reset my chrono and will have to wait until a "Range is safe" command is in place before I could reset my chrono or delete some data..... I hate it when for some reason it gives you an error and you are 10-15 ft away unable to touch the chrony function buttons, wondering and talking to yourself "if i could only reach the darn thing to ckeck what's wrong".
For a few bucks more I would buy the Beta Master with remote, I highly recommend it.
If you dont, you might regret it :D :D

i agree completely for the above reason,..... i love mine!
No, you don't need the clamp either!

Thanks for all the advice folks.

I just got a smoking deal on an Alpha, so I won't have the remote after all. I saved $100 from the best price I could find on a Beta Master.

I completely agree wiht Boo...

Although I suppose this makes sense if you shoot at a range wiht other people, which I never do:
