Just some minor tweaks on loads I had already worked up. Want to share this though, I had some Winchester 175grn Silvertips I found I decided to try. Check out the numbers...

For $1 a piece I am glad I had only bought a couple boxes years back. The other box I had produced 3 squibs...

On the plus side I am getting an extremely consistent 1650-1665fps with Nosler 135s/IMR800-X out of a Glock 20. I used my 6" longslide G20 and was getting over 1800fps...:eek:
 
I am having a hard time breaking 1200fps safely with 200 grn bullets out of the stock length barrel. I have another powder and some other minor tweaks to try though. It doesn't help that the only 200grn bullet I can find is the rather long Hornady XTP. As for 180s I can break 1300fps pretty easily with a wide variety of bullets.

One thing I'd like to mention about the 135 grain loads I tried, I experienced pretty wild pressure spikes using mag primers. I was well under max when I stopped. The same load with standard primers were much more consistent and I was able to go right up to max with no signs of trouble.
 
A 200 grain XTP (which will out penetrate most other HP's) would be a dynamite deer load in Canada if we were allowed to hunt with them.
 
The mouse fart loads from major ammo manufacturers are an embarrasement to the 10mm community.

As much as i love experementing with nuclear 10mm loads, the truth is that most bullets are designed for .40sw, and will perform poorly at 10mm velocities. Nosler and Speer bullets have the most problems. This is sad, because 165 grain Speer GD is by far my most favorite bullet for .40sw.

Hornady XTP and Winchester ST are pretty much the only bullets that will stay together at nuclear 10mm velocites. Winchester ST's are way too expensive (nearly double the price of XTP's). For this reason Hornady 155gr XTP @ 1550fps is my favourite load for SD/HD. And 200gr XTP @ 1250 fps would be my favourite load for hunting/SD in the woods (if i was living in a free country)

P.S. I want to upgrade to a 24# spring in my G20. Any retailers selling these in Canada?
 
FWIW the Nosler load is pretty popular with those that CCW 10mm down south. I love busting water/milk jugs just so fragmentation isn't a big issue for me. I do agree that many JHPs may frag even at normal 10mm velocities, let alone nuke loads. XTPs hold up very well with my top loads producing a nice mushroom every time in media like wet phonebooks, water jugs etc.. As far as raw speed though I can always push FMJs significantly faster than JHPs. The extra case volume helps greatly to keep pressures down. Since all we can really shoot is paper anyway I usually stick to them.
 
135gr Nosler JHP will frag and dump a ton of energy into a target, causing massive tissue dammage, but it lacks penetration. Some say that its not an issue, while others might not feel very good about lack of penetration. Add thick clothing and possible light cover into the equation and the result is even less certain.
I feel that 155gr XTP's offer the best of both worlds - fast, reliable expansion with decent penetration.

But i agree with you on the milk jugs - them Noslers blow them up real good :D
