Chuck Hawks Review on Tikka's

Now Some people may find the Tikka not a qualilty rifle, or cheap or whatever, while they praise there old Grampas rifle like its the second coming of Christ. Too me, my Tikka T3 Lite Stainless Steel is the definition of what a hunting rifle should be.

Won't find me sporting Grandpas old banger. Especially not in the rugged BC mountains, the steep and thick salt water coast, the Cariboo Plateau or in the Northern Rockies.

What I *will* be carrying is a good quality stainless rifle with a good quality synthetic stock.
:p;)

While most definitely a vehement T-3 "hater", I believe Mr. Hawks speaks truth in much of that article. While Beretta has garnered a market success with the Tikka product, many folks still refuse to hunt with a FUGLY rifle. I say Potato you say Pototo. Enjoy your Tikkas :)

I find it too be the best rifle for the job bar none. Tikkas are the bestest ever and you can not convince me otherwise....then again my Sig SHR is a nice rifle also...not too mention my Sako 85..thats a winner there too. Pretty impressed with my Ruger 10/22's not to mention my Marlin 825 and Henrys. Benelli has never let me down along with my Rem 870 even my old Cooey is good to go. I had a Winchester but lent it too my brother and he never did give it back.....then again they all do what I ask of them....and so forth.

My Toyota Tacoma is pretty good too ..better than your Ford? Perhaps.

Chuck Hawks is definitely a reference name.
Lately he has a bunch of people writing for him and their reviews are unbiased, professional and accurate, most of the times... They have a problem with non-american guns - in this respect I admit they are biased to some extent.
Still, if it comes from www.chuckhawks.com, it matters and you must pay attention.

The problem with most Gun Magazines these days is that they are laid out like a People Magazine. They want the average person to be able to read the average article during the time period it takes to enjoy a crap.

Few magazines do an in depth review and few include negatives.

That's good Gate, I agree...;)

But I do like my 2 tikkas.

I bought a ugly Tikka T3 stainless because its the best all around hunting rifle, that suits my hunting need perfectly, for several reasons. The stainless steel barrel does'nt rust and wet weather does'nt affect it, I can bushwack all day long, and the stock always looks brand new, the gun is great to carry all day long because its so light, if I am in a hurry to load up while I'm driving on a logging road, all I have to do is grab the magazine in my pocket and load up, and within 3 seconds I am ready to shoot. At the end of the day, I just wipe down the barrel and I can put the gun away. And last but not least, my Remington Model 700 BDL shot about 2 inch MOA, while my Fugly, light, Tikka shoots Sub MOA.

Now Some people may find the Tikka not a qualilty rifle, or cheap or whatever, while they praise there old Grampas rifle like its the second coming of Christ. Too me, my Tikka T3 Lite Stainless Steel is the definition of what a hunting rifle should be.

I made the same switch for the exact reasons you give. A functional rifle that suits my needs and circumstances.

So everything you own is the best! coincidence?

That's the part that you can read for free... There is a "member area" on his website, where you get much more than that for a paid subscription.
Chers,
TheWaterfowler

The problem I have with Chuck's reviews is that it seems most of them are based off things he's read or just ballistics that copied from a reloading manual . I prefer reviews based on actual experience and usage in the field.....I take everything he writes with a grain of salt.

I believe that in his sarcasm he is trying to imply that people naturally find the best in anything they own (or paid money for).

While that is certainly true.
It's also true that lots of us saw, handled, & shot the Tikka BEFORE we bought one. It's hard to argue against a rifle that does everything you ask with-out a number of add-ons.

At a point in time several years ago I was looking at a 223 myself having just sold off a Ruger no 1 I got tired of farting with. I looked at several offerings but on close inspection the only one I really liked was the CZ527 which I was also able to get in a lefthand version in a couple of days. Not a lot of difference in price yes but the CZ is a true short action Minimauser action and to my eye is of a better grade of finish. I read these articles too but keep in mind they are someone elses opinion and may not necessarily reflect my own. My money so I ultimately make the final decision and I think in this case I did right. FWIW I am not fond of plastic or aluminum parts on a rifle either. Then again I am willing to pay for something that does not. I see a lot of T3s for sale and have only seen one CZ527 I recall maybe 2.
