Hi all. I just wanted to share thoughts about a recent purchase i made. A CIL 310. When it got here it was in very nice shape. The stock was a bit ruff and front sight hood was missing but steel, blue, sights, riffling and mag were in pretty good shape. So i decided to try to refresh the checkering but it was so shallow and with my small wood checkering experience, i could not save it. So i sanded it off which is, at the end not to bad. After 6 or 7 coat of linseed oil and some Howards feed & wax, the walnut cam out dark and very well figured like i like them. I use to love open sight for my LR’s but my eyes are not getting better with time plus, i decided to use it as my marmot, squirrel, crow and plinking rifle. So needed a reasonably good and flexible scope for all those uses. So with limited funds since it all went on the rifle and since i like Sightron products, i went with an SI 3-9x40 HHR on which i resetted the parallax down to about 40 meters held by a set of Warnes 7.3 rings. IMHO, i think i now have a very potent, well balanced and good looking rig. Now i purchased 4 brand of ammo to try to find the most powerful ammo it can fire and still be able to hit something at up to about 75 meters. One of the ammo i got is Stigners. I was worried about FTF and FTE because of the Anschutz match chamber but i was very please to easily cycle them without a itch. Rifling does show on the bullet though. Another thing i was surprise with is that the front sight ramp is plastic! The blade is steel but not the ramp. I realize they had to cut somewhere to be able to sale the for 89$ in the 70’s. I’m going out this weekend to range test the different ammo and sure hope it does handle the Stigners good. I’m only disappointed not to have found some Velocitors. I thought it was the best suited ammo for my use. So i’ll share the results as soon as possible. Sorry for the boring story guys, but i have high expectations with this one. Anyone with experience to share out there? Keep shooting!
