Hello,

I have acquired this firearm from my Grandfather and just wonder if anyone knows anything about it and maybe any value towards it. He won it in 1970 and has stored it since and never fired it, you can see its still in the box.

Mainly want to know if its worth keeping it orginal or if I can use it to go shooting. Seems like limited edition Hudson's Bay Company.

Thanks very much.

I'm pretty sure it is made by CBC (Companhia Brasileira De Cartuchos)...Brazilian made and may models out there, some for Hudson's Bay (CIL) up to models for Canadian Tire in the mid to late 80's. Varying degrees of engraving work.... and were sold from 80 - 150 new.... If you ever want to sell it let me know...

I got one of those in a 12 and 410. but it doesnt say hudsons bay co. one is a remington and the other is a cil. neet old gun but the plastic hinge spacer has a tendancy to break as it did on both mine. steel ones can be bought at western gun parts in edmonton. doesnt matter what the money value is, its your gun with your family hertage attatched to it, shoot it or store it. Good luck!

I don't think it will ever be a big money collectible gun. It will probably give you much more enjoyment to shoot it and that is what I would do with it. Keep the original box in a clean dry location, shoot and look after the shotgun, pass it down in your family. Enjoy! In another 50 years it will have about the same value if you shoot and look after it as it will if you pack it away and never fire it.

Thank you for all your comments, I want to shoot it so badly and am not one to store it, but only if it would be worth something in the future. But as it seems it won't make a difference as I will be keeping well care of it I will be super exicted to have some rounds and be something to enjoy and pass down.

Thanks for the tip about the holder/spacer mine is cracked but not broken so it'll be nice to have a replacement part and keep the orginal in tack.

Thanks Again

If I was you ,I would not be buying any hi speed steel shells
for that , with the full choke and heavy loads will kich hard in these
light guns, thou well made other than the plastic as noted above.
Looks like very nice wood. I would shot it and just look after it .
keep it clean and oiled, and don't keep it in the box as that can cause
rust trouble is whe card board picks up any moister.

:agree:
And it will doughnut swell the end of the barrel and blow it out to. the full chokes aint made for steel shot, lead only. seen the result of steel shot throught an old full choke gun like that at Bashaw sports, result, end of the barrel swelled and split in about 3-4 sections.

Good luck with that. I know exactly how it's going to go.

Single shot guns like that are horrible to shoot for more than a box of shells. Have fun though.
