Dose anyone own one of these? My dad got me into Clint Eastwood movies at a young age and I always wanted to get this gun to make him smile. He passed in October but I still think I wanna get one to remember him by.

Do the shoot ok? I dont wanna hear how they are not accurate lol. I think thats silly when talking about these old replica beauties. Just how the handle the .38spl and ease or not of poping out the case's.

Thanks

The guns themselves are better than the majority of the folks holding them. However well you shoot now with a handgun is how well you'll shoot with one of these Uberti guns.

Now if you're on a seriously good bullseye shooting team and are likely to be representing our country in the next Olympics or Commonwealth games then you'll find the Uberti wanting compared to your Pardini or whatever. But then most guns can't match up to a full on match pistol.

After about 80 to 100 rounds you'll find that the brass won't quite fall out by itself when you upend the gun so that it's nearly vertical. At that point a snappy poke of the ejector will send them flying. And an easily performed cleaning will restore the drop out conditions for another 80 to 100 rounds. If you ignore that and keep shooting I suppose things will get a bit more sticky after 400 to 500. But nothing you can't push out easily enough with the one finger. They'll just need to be pulled out for the last little bit instead of punching them out with the ejector.

The SAA is quite sensitive to your hand position. When I first started shooting my Pietta guns I choked up too high on the grip. That sent the rounds way off to the left. Once I moved my hand down to where the web of my thumb and forefinger was about mid way up the shoulder at the top of the back strap and my pinky was just under the front corner of the butt end the guns started being quite easy to shoot right onto the POA. This includes the black powder cap and ball revolvers I've got as well.

Keep in mind that you pay a lot for that bit of snake pewter in the handle. If you really must have it then fine. But you'll find that the gun is easier on your palm without it. Although I .38's out of these is pretty mild.

As stated they shoot just fine. I've handled one of these and they do look sweet. You will probably like it very much if you get one. But any of their SAA's are nice.

Are you referring to the version built off of the Navy Colt?

If so the one I had requires you to use a "poker " that's housed in the ball rammer under the barrel. They usaully come out no problem the only issue I had is sometimes the lever would unlatch and flop down while shooting..

In general if your into the man with no name it is a must have and I don't regret mine!!

I got one with the snake, absolutely no regret, quality assemblage is great, it is a very thight revolver, would rebuy it anytime.

I never saw a used one on EE, I think all owners are keeping it very longgggg(I will).

I prefer shooting this one than the S&W 629 that I had.

So what is Wolverine selling these for with the exchange rate these days? I've seen used ones go for $5-600 USD on American sites. Makes me wonder if going through an importer and going after one of these used ones is economical.

$821.50 at Wolverine and they only have one in stock right now. They go from $500 to $700 on Gunbroker. At $500 with currency exchange, import fees, shipping...etc you'll end up paying more than buying it straight from Wolverine and the wait time will be well over 2 months to finally have it in hands.

My advice, don't fool around and jump on it while it's there and worth it.

I would actually prefer a snake-less version and spend the savings on ammo. I also like the idea of a used gun as these look pretty nice. I would rather it had a few scratches on it already so I don't feel so bad when I scratch it up!

I really like what Uberti has done here. I'm too lazy to get into black powder and the Richards Mason replica they make just doesn't look right without the loading lever. So I think this is a perfect balance of aesthetics and modern function. Now if they would just make a Walker or a Dragoon!

A little off topic, but here is a shot of my Denix Dragoon replicas...

And here is an action shot, (you can almost hear my wife sighing as she's taking the picture)...

Not bad, eh? Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

For those of you following this thread, I called Wolverine and they are ordering a snake-less model for me. Because some days you might feel more Tuco than Blondie.

Very nice pics !!
