A couple of months ago I bought a new Citori CX for busting clays and hunting. Last weekend while shooting my front bead fell off. It fractured flush with the rail. I called the nearest Browning service location and they told me to send it and they'd fix it....but it would take several months. I didn't want to be without my gun that long as I shoot nearly every week so instead I took it to my local gunsmith who will drill out the old bead post and install a stainless bead. Anyway, not super happy given this is a $2500 gun and am wondering if anyone else has had their bead fall off?

I've replaced many beads over the years and always have a good supply on hand for the simple reason is they fall out, fall off, get pulled off from a cloth-lined case, get bent, get fractured etc.
Not at all uncommon, a friend had the bead fall out of his Citori 8-10 years ago, and never bothered to replace it, because as he says" I never look at it anyways". I haven't had one fall out, but I doubt that I would replace it, if it did.

I'm really careful with the front bead on my guns and never had one shear off but I've seen lots of them that have. I would say that if you didn't bump it on something then it was probably a defective bead right from the factory but what a pain to send it away for months to have something so simple fixed. Your much better off getting the local gunsmith to fix it even tough it won't be covered by warranty.
Did you try shooting it with out the bead? I have a gun that I took the bead off of because it was too big and intrusive and I shoot the gun just fine without it, in fact I shoot it better than I did with the bead on.

Yeah it was a defective bead for sure. I did shoot it without the bead and did well, but I do reference my beads when I first shoulder my gun to ensure consistency

You don't need the beads for that, just look at the rib and make sure your eye is centered or, if you practice shouldering your gun unloaded once a day and get your mount perfected then you won't have to doubt the consistency of your mount. Proper gun fit is paramount for this and back before sporting started allowing competitors to pre mount the gun we all shot from a gun down position so getting a repeatable mount was very important because double checking the mount would almost certainly mean a missed target!
