Anyone here own the above model? Would like to know if that has been built to scale or on a 20ga frame? The advertised weight looks reasonable.

Thanks,

I believe that the Citori 16 gauges are built on scaled 16 frame. I have a White Lightning with 26" barrels bought new about 6 years ago. Tips the scales at 6 pounds, 10 oz and that's with the addition of a pad.

That they are scaled as 16s was my understanding when I bought the gun. I just checked Bill Hanus' website. He's a strong proponent of new 16s and he sells a bunch. All references he makes to his Browning Citori 16s are that they are scaled for the gauge.

Don't quote me 100%, but I'm certain I saw it in Browning literature somewhere that it was built on a modified 20g frame. Keep searching though as that info may not be on the button. I am 100% certain though that the BPS 16g is built on a 20g frame. But we're not talking BPS here so that doesn't do us much good does it.

Ok, the latest bit of info I could find was from 16ga.com. One of the regulars there stated it is considered a 16g frame. The frame itself is simply a wider version of the 20g frame. So essentially same dimensions except for width.

I have a Citori 12, a 16 and a .410. My 16 has a much smaller frame than the 12, and is only a few thousandth's of an inch bigger than the .410. It is nearly identical in dimensions to the frame on my Superposed 20. The Citori White Lightning 16 28" is my favourite "go to" gun for general bird hunting. Balance and dimensions seem about perfect, not too heavy or too light. Yesterday I used it to take mallards, snipe and Huns.

Longwalker, while I have the SxS sickness, my White Lightning is clearly the best thing I shoot. When I bought it, I could only find one with 26' barrels, would rather have got the 28" barrels but it still works great. I've even use it occasionally on geese.

Gentlemen - thanks very much for the input. Over the past week, I've handled the 20ga Citori Lightning on three different occasions and had felt each time that the fit just wasn't right.

I've always been skeptical when it comes to buying a shotgun without first hand inspection....I shall try first to get hold of a 16ga specimen to check for fit since Browning DAC/DAH are a bit different from the Berettas (that fit me very well).

I believe that browning is doing a run of several different 16ga citori shotguns at the moment, Have been talking with the firearm store I normaly deal with, they indicated that if that the case they would bring in a few. Am awaiting news, and trying to get fit measurements. I have the 16ga bps and a mate has the 20ga different frames. his is older.

My understanding is they are doing/have done a run of five different Citori models in 16 gauge in 2010. The models are :

Gran Lightning -
Feather Superlite - Straight Stock
Lightning Feather -
White Lightning -
Lightning -

I forgot to mention, my White Lightning 16 gauge isn't really mine. I bought it six years ago when my son was born as a 16th birthday present for him. Ten years to go as he just had his 6th birthday last week. I tell myself I'm just using it enough so it is properly broken in by the time he gets it.

I've got lots of other guns but this one is special for a couple of reasons.....it shoots great and it is my son's first gun.
