I'ld rather be Hunting somewhere in Eastern Ontari
I live in a residential nieghbour hood. I have a skunk that feed in my yard and my neighbours. He's been digging up the earth at the fences to make his trail, I'm tired of smelling him when the neighbours dog barks at him. There is no den yet. Anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of him without getting sprayed or using my gun in the city.
 
call a professional or use a live trap. if you catch one in the live trap just make a little noise to let him know you are coming and put a blanket over the trap. slowly put the trap in the back of the truck and take him somewhere else.
 
Firing rifle in city limits= illegal
baiting it with a load of rat poison= probably illegal but quiet!:D

or you can start working on your accuracy with the slingshot, but you gotta do it right the first time!
 
Silly you :p, that's not a skunk...it's your neighbors smoking weed. ;)

If it really is a skunk...live trap + cat food + tarp + road trip + .22LR (back of the head)= :D
 
i hate those skunks
my car was recently sprayed by one
after 1 week and 3 packs of air sponge odor remover i just started driving again
 
Skunk spray is best treated with a product called "Odour Mute", available at some pet stores and co-op's. Works very well for cat urine also. :)
 
A single gun shot can never be traced to it's location if no one saw it. Just aim true and shoot once. Don't ask how I know.

Talk about the owl that killed the skunk in your yard if you get a smell.
 
Put some cat food in a live trap...if the live trap is just the right size the buggers can't spray anyways because they cannot get their tails in the air to spray...once its in the live trap throw a blanket or tarp over the trap and put it on the back of a truck...take it to the nearest stream, lake, pond....toss em in for a swim while inside the trap...BLUB BLUB BLUB...

This method is cruel but saves alot of dirty work...otherwise just shoot the bugger
 
Go to your local municipal animal control department and borrow a live trap. Bait it with cat food and set out over night where the problem critter frequents. If you catch it you can relocate the skunk to a more rural location, give it the 12 gauge treatment on exiting or drown the thing while it's still in the trap in some ditch or stream.
 
"...probably illegal..." Definitely.
"...get rid of him..." Your lawn likely has grubs. Remove the food and Pepe will go elsewhere.

My neighbour gets rid of a dozen or so skunks a year, add that to the three or four I get????
 
I would just go to canadian tire and buy a trap, throw food in it. In 2 months span on the farm its caught 8 racoons and 1 feral cat. Theres alot of different ways to kill them. I know one guy who just uses his big fishing drum (blue barrel) filled up from rain water and throws the cage in there, 30 mins later pulls it out burys the thing on the other side of the property. Works well if you arent able to use a firearm on your property. I just use the .22 on them and throw them in the bush. (These racoons were attacking the chickens in there coop they've gotten 3 of them in a 1 month span) When those things get scared they dont lay eggs properly for a week!
 
We caught 9 last summer in a cage trap!Two at once!It was rural so they got shotgunned as they couldn't be trained to sit on a skeet thrower.Putting the cagetrap in a cardboard box and attaching an exaust would be suitable for city disposal...Harold
 
Animal control? Theyr'e nothing but tree huggin liberals. They won't touch wildlife in the city unless there is immediate danger. They don't want anything to happen to the critters babies. They might die too, "no bbleppin kidding. Get that in too ya. I have called them buggers already. Thanks for the input men , I've got it figured out.
