Hey fellas i want to use my 35 Whelen for open sight hunting to utilise the rifle!
its a Ruger hawkeye model, so i will get a NECG ruger sight i believe and some kind of front sight for the barrel....
how do i go about this? DIY? as best i can.

rifle will forever be mine so no stress on cosmetic issues or stuff ups on my behalf.... does this look like it would work>

or someone have link to the item i would be looking for?

thanks

I have mounted many front sights. I drill and tap to mount the ramp. Bottom taps are prefered for this. Use a clamp to hold rifle on your drill press( hand drill could be used but it's a bit harder to keep holes level) drill a blind hole then tap with bottoming tap ( go slow and use LOTS of fluid backing out every 1/4 turn or so so the tap does not bind) simple job that takes less than 1/2 hour.
