My brother just told me that he put a used Clark Custom 1911 on lay-away. I think he paid around $2k for it. (Not sure where he got the money!!!) Not being familiar with 1911's or Clark Custom, my question is a Clark Custom 1911 worth the money or should I pistol whip some sense into him (although a little too late:D )

Custom gunsmith out of Louisianna. Passed away in 2000. You might want to contact the company directly to get more info about the specific firearm - was it a full custom job, or just gunsmithing ( Bulls EYE or IPSC, etc).
Well respected in the US - less known North of the border....

Only the buyer can say whether it is worth it or not. Some 'custom' features may be great for someone and a bane for someone else. FWIW, Clark Custom guns may not be the prettiest custom guns out there but they are very accurate and reliable. They have a good name and a loyal following down in the US.

"...less known North of the border..." Only if you're new to handgun shooting. Clark is a well known name in IPSC/IDPA circles. Two grand is too much for a used one though. Clark sells their "Combat" model for $1560US($1,665.45CDN). They'll accurize a customer's pistol for $925US($987.52Cdn). Mind you, there'd be the cross border BS.
One of their full blown 'race' guns runs $2,020US($2,156.54Cdn).
