Classic 160 gr 6.5x55 load?

Was a point that I picked up some years ago from a John Barsness article - no point to develop excellent loads, if you can not get those components any more - so either get enough at the start, or do not bother. Gets easier, I guess, as one gets older - so 300 bullets, 300 primers, a couple pounds powder and 100 brass now, lets me develop a load for a rifle, that is both accurate enough and powerful enough for my purposes, and leaves me with LOTS for future use. So, I do not care what they introduce or discontinue - does not matter - I have the load developed and the components to make more - worked then, will work when I need them to again. It can get a bit borderline bizarre - sort of silly to have 308 Win, 30-06, 300 H&H, 308 Norma Magnum, 300 Win Mag and 300 Weatherby Mag all ready to go - is considerable overlap there. Gets perhaps even "stupider" to have more than one rifle in any one cartridge - say one with a 22" barrel and another one with a 24" barrel - but using same ammo - normally can only go hunting with one at a time ...

Should try some Magpro, it's about $140 cheaper for 8lbs then H1000 and gets better velocities in the 6.5PRC.

Thanks Hitzy ! I was very limited for available powder stock when looking. Was wanting RL26...nada. Primal rights and Gavin tube had some good tests / results with H1000...consensus seems full cases of powder work best in the 6.5 PRC...mine is at 99% with max loads. All loaded up and waiting to test them now.

Imr7828 also works well in the 6.5PRC. I use R26 myself, but I just developed a load for a friend using Imr7828ssc.
