I will be carrying a 7mm Rem Mag and a .338 Win Mag in the field this year - hardly classics, but certainly not "new and improved" either.
So, which fine old rifles, or new ones, chambered in the classic cartridges will be heading to the hunting grounds this year? Stories, as well as pictures, from past adventures will also be much appreciated!
This spring on our (successful) grizzly hunt I had the newest cartridge I hunt with out - a .338wm. One 275grain Swift A Frame through the lungs and that was that.
Last spring, no grizzly, but two large black bears with my .416 Rigby. One 400 grain Swift A Frame through the lungs for each one.
This fall my refinished 59 Browning Safari in 3006.
And if it comes in time this fall my, new to me, New Haven, Winchester Model 70 Classic in 6.5x55.
