hi
I bought a classic green the other day and have had 6 or 7 jams already in about 200 rounds. During ejection, the spent case flips around so the head is against the chamber and the neck is against the bolt (once aginst the bolt handle, cutting the rubber :( ) preventing the action from chambering a new round. I'm shoooting winchester 62gr fmj ammo.

It's beginning to really irritate me

Is this just normal for breaking in the rifle?

Thanks
ryan

+1 on that, bring it to TSE. Such a problem is definately not normal.
Did you try both settings with the gas valve?

Had once a similar problem with my 552, solved it by replacing the extractor, might be the same with your rifle.

Calamari,

Give TSE a call or better yet stop by and they can check it out for you.

sorry for the delay, been busy out on the rigs

I put two hundred rounds through her this afternoon (80 UMC 55gr, 80 american eagle 55gr and 40 win 62gr) after cleaning out the gas sytem and running it dry like redleg mentioned. Only got two jams this time (1 win, 1 Am eagle), both of which happenned during rapid fire.
All in all, still a bit irritating, but I can live with it

^ I bought a used blk special and have put 1500rds through it with 1 jam. I think the load was substandard and the action didb't have enough power the cycle properly. Mine kicks the spent brass about 5 meters forward-right.

Good luck and get her looked at as that is just not acceptable for this rifle.

It's funny that this tread came up as I got two FTE yesterday...

Both times the spend case fail to eject properly and got crushed by the bolt on his way back to the breech.

It was the first failure I experienced so far.:(

GGL... how is this contributing? We are trying to help a fellow out here. If this is another continuation of how the sks is superior to the PE90 save your keys strokes. If you have any first hand experience with FTE issues please share. It is frustrating enough to have a tool not work as intended let alone another tool chirping in the background while trying to trouble shoot the problem....

As for the ammo used ...I heard the Win. White box 45g 'Varmint' will not provide the power to cycle the action properly. Its the only factory ammo I have not tried...

Take it to TSE. You probably need your extractor replaced. They have nearly every part in stock and support the product line better than anyone.

Swiss Arms rifles are the most reliable system that I have ever used. (I've used just about everything and operational, not just on the range as a civillian.) Any malfunction in a Swiss Arms weapon is not normal providing you have good ammo.

I have about 8-9000 through my Classic Green and have had only one malfunction. It was with a reloaded round that was done for me by a friend. The case was tore in half and was probably due to using an old several times fired case.

I have about 2-3000 through a SG 552 and never had a malfunction. (Single fire, 3rd burst and full auto.) Just clean the weapon well and have TSE check it out. I hear the grease is good but I don't use it. I clean with MPro 7Gel and Lube with Militec.

This could be an artifact of breaking in a new rifle ? or ammo?

I have a new Blk Special and I have probably for sure under 5 (maybe only 2-3) strange occurances where an FTE occurred where the brass was somehow spun around and not fully ejected never like you describe though.

I have read a few threads here on CGN where FTEs can be caused by shooter technique - sounds bizarre, but it could be true. Maybe its you and not the gun :D

You may be right!

It was the first time I benched this rifle, the gun laid on the rest and on a sandbag to the buttstock. Due to the mild recoil, I was holding it too relaxed, the eye on the eyepiece and only concentrated on my trigger pull.

Next time I'll hold her like a real man and see what happen!

Or is the Winchester white box?
