Someone posted a couple of brilliant old photos about a year ago about an fellow hunting with his trusty Savage 1899. I really enjoyed those pics so lets see some more. I'll start it off with this picture of a hunter with his Mannlicher-Schoenaur and a Leopard. Date and location is unknown.

I love the one of your dad supercub!!

Do you know if he shot that bear?

He did shoot that bear as it was giving them some grief around the camp.

He used to talk about a semi-auto in 8x57. I think that was the rifle he used, but Dad wasn't into guns alot and didn't elaborate very much. They were just tools to him.

The one in that pic is a 1889 Scmidt Rubin, aboslutely. That was originally in 7.5 x 53.5. Many were imported to North America and converted to 30-30.

You can tell by the large rounded rear sight, the large 12 shot magazine and the shape of the receiver and bolt in the picture.

Here's a pic in originaly military configuration

By the look of the native I am guessing it is Kenya

My grandpa was a hunting guide outside of Golden B.C. for most of the 40s and 50s. He used to take rich americans who would come from as far away as New York. Here are a couple of his photo's. I have about two albums full of his hunts. All done by a team of pack horse's and he would stay up in the bush for 2-3 months a year depending on snow.

This is one of a grizz and a client. My grandma marked his head with a pen so she could remember who he was in the photo.

This next one is of some skulls. He is the one in the hat.

And finally ( I have posted this before) the two deer that he took in one shot. Rumour is he didn't know the other buck was behind the first one.
