Classic Mannlicher Recommendations???

Import a used one from Germany, E gun.de has them. Also, a note about set triggers,
The Normal set trigger with two triggers is a german set trigger or (Deutscher Stecher)
Another option is a french trigger( Franzosischer Stecher) wich is a single trigger that becomes a set trigger when you push it forward instead of backwards it sets the trigger. then its a hair trigger.

Another option to The Mannlicher is the mauser 98 stutzen.

Saw the Cooper full stock in 300 H&H at SHOTSHOW, real impresive, has an old world feel and look, wich is hard to accomplish nowadays, fit is excelllent, this is the only Full Stock that comes close to original Man Shcoueners, I know I have a nice old 1903 MS carbine in 6.5x54MS!Dale Z!

Open to any and all recommendations on make, model and caliber... I am thinking of something in the 7mm/08 class... Rich blueing and nice walnut... no pallet wood stocks... accent forend tips and grips caps a nice bonus...

Richard's Microfit will make you a Mannlicher stock for many bolt actions if you wanted to put a little work in to it. I have been toying with the idea of my Remmy 700 in 7mm-08 wearing a nice full wood stock, and is project number 3 on the to do list.

Hey, I found a smoking deal for you:

COLLECTION - Carabine Steyr MannLicher Luxus, calibre 270, crosse pleine longueur sculptée, mécanisme avec engravures, action à (pour plus de détails)

Caractéristiques
Chasse & PĂŞche, Droitier

And for the 2nd official language impaired, that is $8000 for a Steyr Mannlicher Luxus in 270.

I'll take 2.

Maybe a little bit more "entry level" than some, I sure like the Ruger RSI. I've got a 77 in .270 and a No. 1 in 7x57. I had a CZ550FS, beautiful rifle as far as I'm concerned. The only thing was it just felt huge in comparison to the Ruger.

Thats an interesting comparison, I've never handled a Ruger RSI but have certainly admired them.
I have 3 Ruger Hawkeyes and maybe its just me but I think my CZ550 FS is nicer to handle than them, so much so that they are going on my table at the next gun show.
At the same time I'll be looking for an RSI.... :)

Anything north of $four digits$ is out for me... the Ruger #1 RSI is a very sweet gun and I have always wanted a number one... I have a thing for single shot weapons... probably due to forty years of bowhunting... Wholesale Sports has the #1 RSI on sale right now... I think that I would be inclined to go with .270 Win over 7X57 though...

I still want to investigate further, the Zavasta M70/M98 Mannlicher's... I have been looking into reviews and retailers... plus have another option in the works right now... Interested in further opinions...

I had an M77 RSI and found it to be rather club-like. To me a full-stock rifle should be light and thin - almost dainty.

I yearned for a CZ for quite a while, then Clay from Prophet River brought in the one I asked for (.270). As much as I enjoyed shooting it, the Ruger RSI won. Such a handy little rifle! Clay also sold me my RSI 7x57, which my 11 yr old has taken a real shine to.

I picked up the 77 RSI .270 last summer for him, he is dying to get out and finally try deer hunting. Both great rifles in my opinion.

Odd, I found it just right. Granted, its sort of a fusion of American and European style so its hard to compare it to the classics. I find the stock shape works for me though, as long as it has glass on it.

I'm sure it didn't help that I owned both M1903 and M1908 Mannlicher-Schoenauer Carbines at the same time!
