Let's see your classic/vintage precision rifles. No real age limit, just what you consider classic.

I was recently gifted this 1979 production 700 BDL, 24" heavy barrel in .308 Win. Glass bedded including bottom metal, barrel is floated, trigger has been worked on because it is superb. That Leupold is a 1977 production M8 20x w/fine target dot.

If I could figure out how to post pictures in here (first month ever using a mac computer) I would post pictures of my 3 Winchester Model 70's, and my Tikka T3 Tactical with custom brake

Have you shot it yet? I bet it shoots real well.

With a touch higher comb I'd like the ergo's of the factory BDL stock quite a bit....

I must have sold the set of .308 dies I had because although I have brass and bullets I do not have dies.

I found 15 rounds that I had loaded for a M305 I used to own. 39 grains of Varget under a 178 grain A MAX (very light load). So I took those out to the range.

Fired 1 round, made some scope adjustments and shot the following group:

I actually thought it was one bullet hole and the scope was screwed and throwing my shots around. It wasn't until I walked up and saw it was oblong that I figured I had actually shot that group. The group measures .104". I shot three more three shot groups which were all around .5". If you lay all 4 groups on top of one another they measure just over .6".

The .104" group was a bit of a fluke, but 0.5" groupings without working up a load is impressive. I've owned close to 50 rifles and loaded for most of them and that is the best group I've ever shot.
 
Doesn't surprise me. I know of a number of remington .308 win tubes that shoot real well. 10", 11.25" and 12" twists. They all shoot dang well, long-haul jump to the lands be damned.
 
I have a Winchester Model 70 .308 US National Match rifle. ca1968. Long receiver, cut for charger loading. Redfield Mark VIII sight. Really nice rifle that I haven't shot for years.
 
Beautiful rifles guys!

Couple that I have and could be considered classic.

1960's Rem 40x Rimfire with Unertl 20x (I need to get a better Pic of this rifle) It's on the right and I do have a trigger guard for it now.


Also a 1960's Rem 700, it's my M40 clone, need a few more things for it but it's getting there.
 
This is my classic, I can always go back to diopter just by twisting scope off and sliding diopter into its place.
