Hi all. I busted some clay with my old Wingmaster for the first time in a while this weekend. I had forgotten how fun it is. I now HAVE to get my own setup. I'm going to get a new gun, but first I want to buy a launcher. Any advice? Brand names, availability....
My budget would be in the $250 range, give or take a few $$.
Thanks in advance!

The Trius Trapmaster, available through Wholesale and I am sure other places as well, lists for $230 and provides hours of SIT DOWN trap flinging. The thing even has a back rest. Angle changes are accomplished via the pivoting seat arrangement, and elevation adjustment is easy as well. After a day of bending over and kneeling down to operate the regular style spring operated flinger, I am stiff and sore. The sit down version is much easier, and throws better presentations. It takes down to fit in the car. I know I sound like an ad, but I love it, even my wife uses it.

I bought a Trius one step. It's a handy rig that cocks and throws by pushing / stepping on the arm allowing you to throw and shoot by yourself. Requires no effort to set the arm and load the bird and can be set for different angles. Think I bought mine for around $ 150.00. Easily fits in the truunk of the car or on the back of my ATV for transport. I've thrown several hundred birds with it and no problems.

If there is a second person available we use the various comercial Sporting Clays machines at the club accessable to all members for practice.

I don't have money at the moment to purchase a good clay launcher so I was wondering if anyone has tried those hand help plastic throwers for $5? Is it a waste of time or do they work fairly well?

I was out on saturday (also first time in a long time) with a buddy and a hand held thrower. It was fun. The price of the thrower was certainly right. For fun, the hand held is OK. The arm gets tired after awhile and the throws weren't as long... but still a blast.

Bought the Trius 1 step a couple of weeks ago, put 120 birds through it at he weekend, its works fine, real easy to set up and use.

With the hand throwers, I used an old golf club handle. It fits right in the groove for an extension, and it is much easier on the arms. You can get some good distance and speed out of this setup, 75-85 yards.
