Clay Shooting with an M2/M4?

This might be in the wrong forum, but here goes...

For shooting clays, could one use a Benelli M2 tactical or M4 tactical (I'm a sucker for a black shotgun with ghost ring sights and military/police heritage) if it had the 20 inch barrel and if it had the appropriate choke (Full/Improved Modified? I am in the dark on this). Or is it really a waste of time if you don't have a long barreled SxS that is made of wood and iron and comes in a package deal with a tweed jacket? All kidding aside though.

Thanks for any help or opinions,

If it is a smooth bore, you can shoot it at clay targets. Yes, you will get strange looks, but you have to start with something. If you "get into" shooting clay, you will likely never stop looking for your perfect gun.

I am not an expert on the two guns you mentioned.
What type of stock do they use ?
Reason I ask is when at the ALS Shoot at Vancouver Gun Club a gun was using an 870 Express with 20in. barrel and folding stock after three stations he was complaining about his jaw that it was like getting hit in the chops with a right cross every time he pulled the trigger.
Shoot what you got, but before you buy( next time ) maybe think a bit longer about what duties you need your shot gun to full fill .
Just my .02.

You will be putting yourself at a disadvantage, but it can be done. I don't know if those ghost ring sights will be of any use; they may really screw up your ability to see and lead the target at the same time.

Try it, and then you will be the resident expert on using the Benelli M2 Tactical for clays!

The m4 comes from the factory with removable chokes and the standard one is a modified choke.

I did some skeet for the first time ever with my m4 at the CGN meet at silverdale and had no issues reaching out pretty far with the m4, some of the regulars with full clay guns were pretty impressed by the m4.

Sure you can use your tacticool gun to shoot clays. You can also shoot bullseye with a Desert Eagle, benchrest with a Lee Enfield or 3 gun with a single-shot Cooey. Just don't expect to be any good at it.

FYI, some clubs do not permit short guns and depending on the membership don't be too surprised if you receive some negative comment about your gun.
