Clays Shooting Pics....

Hey Spank. I'm sure you are at the Canadian trap shoot in Calgary.
How about some pics of the big event?

I too thought there would be Canadian Championship pics by this morning!

Got home late last night and had lots to do today. Am just going through the hundreds of pics I took trying to pick out the best ones. It was an awesome event. My personal performances were less than stellar.
Kahl Boll completed his Canadian's Grand Slam when he shot the lone 200 straight Saturday to capture the Singles Championship. That now gives him a Singles Championship title, Handicap Championship title, Doubles Championship title, a HOA Championship(400 Championship Targets) title and an HAA (1000 Pre-liminary & Championship targets combined) Championship title to complete his Canadian Championships Grand Slam, just as his late father completed. Only a very few have done so in the 66 years the shoot has been held. I met Susan Nattrass for the first time after all these years and she was gracious enough to take my wife aside and fit her gun to her and and helped her with some tips on perfecting her gun mount. She was very charming and gracious to say the least. To say the AEIHA Calgary Firearms Centre is an amazing facility is a huge understatement. It is the finest I have seen in Canada as far as I am concerned and the staff and club members ran a superb shoot. Saturday night's pig roast was phenomenal. I am already making plans to attend next years event. If the details can be worked out the shoot will be held in Vancouver for 2023.
I'll post pics when I have finished sorting through them.

Spank, I'm sure your both pretty exhausted after that marathon!
I popped in on Satruday and Sunday but didn't shoot, I was mostly interested in seeing how the young people who have gone through our juniors program were doing. One of our junior ladies won the juniors buckle and one of our young shooters who is no longer a junior but learned to shoot in our program won the buckle for his class as well. This same shooter won the juniors shoot at the provincials a few years ago as have some of our other students. As a club we're very proud to have taught these youngsters to shoot and sponsor them in these events.
Everyone I talked too had nothing but good to say about the event, it was well organised and run!

Too bad we missed each other and I believe I know who the young lady is you are referring to. Your club is a real class act!

The battle for AAA Class Champion in the 200 singles race was a real fun watch. Jason Weaver of Edson, AB(first pic post 1) and Patrick Lamont of Brandon, MB(first pic post 4) duked it out for 6 or 7 shoot-off rounds, another 150-175 targets( I lost count after the 4th, LOL) before a winner was determined. They had tied in the main event with scores of 198x200. Watching two AAA shooters shoot off for over 90 minutes was as one spectator put it "what you hope to see in a shoot-off". :)

I'm surprised the singles tied at only 198. The level of shooters there I would think at least one 200. The weather doesn't look that great though. I recognize a few faces of people I've shot with in FSJ and Vernon. Too bad I couldn't make it. Maybe next year.

In an earlier post I reported there was a lone 200 shot by Kahl Boll and Ron McConnell took runner up with 199. The battle between the two AAA shooters was for third place. Patrick Lamont captured third.
