Hello Everyone, I am very new to the gun world. I just purchase a CZ75B SA, it is brand new keep inside a plastic bag inside the case. It is quite oilly inside out. Just want to know how to clean up the gun? Thanks

tl1clk,

After making sure that it's unloaded, I field strip a new gun and remove the grips. I spray all the parts, except the grips, with brake parts cleaner and let it dry. If necessary, I repeat the spray.

I clean the bore, lube the parts, re-assemble it, test for function, and shoot it. ..........Then it's time to start all over again,

John

Be careful if you are going to use brake cleaner. It is very efficient for removing oil and grease, but will melt some plastics and remove some finishes (like poorly done anodizing on aluminum) from metal.

If you are new, probably your best bet is to use a regular gun care product. Strip the pistol down, remove the grips, and saturate it with the product (I'm partial to G96 gun treatment, but you can certainly use something else, like Break-Free CLP, etc..).

Use an old (clean) toothbrush to scrub the interior of the pistol. Wipe up everything you can with a clean rag and use a can of compressed air to blow out the cavities and areas you can't reach with a rag. Q-tips and toothpicks are also very useful for getting into tight spaces. Clean the barrel as you would normally, although I have found that a brass brush is often useful for quickly removing a lot of the "paste" type gun preservatives from inside the barrel.

Repeat until you are certain you have cleaned all of the shipping gunk out, and then finish cleaning as you would normally.

If you dont mind me asking. I am looking to buy this same CZ. How much did you pay and where did you buy? Also are you looking to get the .22LR kit?

I bought mine from Reliable Guns in Vancouver, and the price is $689 + tax. I am not going to get the .22 kits since I already get a .22 Beretta U22 Neos 6.0 Inox.
