Does it exist?

I used to use winchester white box .22LR's and found that there were a number of ones that would NOT fire. I no longer buy them.

I've been using federal now, and they were awesome, never a dud round but the copper coated bullets have a residue on them that's almost like a dust. After handling them all day it was coated on my fingers and after about 350 rounds my savage MkII was no longer extracting the rounds.
Accuracy was good all the way up, but I noticed that there was alot of fouling and it had fouled up the extractor recesses in the chamber area of the barrel. The extractor's could no longer grip the rim of the cartridge because when they fell into the recess there was too much crud and they would not clamp onto the rim.

Point being, I didn't have anything at all to clean out the recesses until I got home, and had to call my day a little bit shorter than normal.

Has anyone shot more than 500 rounds of a particular brand in a bolt gun without any problems? Or am I asking too much of my rifle and any brand would foul the same.
I've only used federal and winchester white box.

A brick of white box was like 14$ and the federal was usually 18-19$

Federal Bulk pack .22's have always been fairly clean, IMHO. I have had good luck recently with the Winchester 333's at Walmart. YMMV.

I suppose you could tumble the federal gently in a mixture of corn cob with a cap full of mineral spirits to strip the residue away. A dollar store toothbrush to clean out the extractor might be useful also.

I use only CCI either Minimags or Velociters. Its a 22 ok so its already cheap. Besides if you ask your dealer for a better price if you are buying bricks you will likely get one. NO FTFs and NO FTEs and that makes me happy:). I shoot a CZ 452, Winnie 9422, Winnie 1906(1937) and a Brno single shot but looking....

Try CCI Blazer, It seems very good in my older Mossberg semi-autos, with more than 500 rounds between a thorough cleaning of the action. Regards, Eagleye.

I like American Eagles, and for some reason the 38gr hollow points shoot the most accurately in my two bolt action 22's. I do run a bore snake through the barrel occassionally, and / or a toothbrush over the face of the bolt to get rid of residue there. Cleaning seems to hurt accuracy more than it helps on my 22's. Takes a few shots for the groups to tighten up again afterwards.

Semi auto's seem to have the most trouble with needing clean burning ammo in my experience. The blow back design results in a lot of the powder residue coming back into the breach, and the rapid chambering seems to slice off more brass & lead residue.

like several others I have had good luck with American Eagles and have run five or six bricks through my Mossberg bolts and semi autos. However with any bulk ammo you are going to get a few misfires and that includes AE although I get few duds with the AE than I did with the Winchester bullk ammo.

I have since switched over to CCI standard Velocity for my plinking ammo as I have had good results with it and would like to try the Blazers if they become available in my area again.

With all kinds of ammo that is bulk made, there are bound to be some duds. If the ammo is being used in a semi auto, there is a lot of residue that enters the loading area with each shot. Periodic maintenance is necessary to retain operating consistancy. My bolt actions have thousands of different brands thru them and still with simple oiling, they operate like new. A semi auto may require a kit with a small container of oil, toothbrush, strong string and a couple patches , Q tips, and toothpicks and can be can be a lifesaver when carried in a pocket while you do what you enjoy....shooting your gun.

I like american eagle and Remington Yellowjackets (they are a little dirty but no probles with them yet). Where Can I find the 36 gr American Eagle Grizzlypeg?? I can only get the 40 Gr and my .22 like the lighter .22 bullets.

American Eagle ammo is all I use in my 3 semi's and my 2 bolts. I have run 600 rnds through my semi in one sitting... and i ran out of ammo before I needed to clean my buckmark (hand gun) I just got a savage in .22lr, and I thought the A.E. ran in it very well, 1 1/4" 10 shot groups @ 75 yards, and earlier today..... I mean yesterday, I ran 300 + rounds through it with no trouble. I've tried Winchester Dyna point GT's and I can't shoot 100 rnds in my semi's without a complete break down clean up. Federal bulk paks seem to be a little dirty I usually get 200 to 350 rnds before I need to clean them up, and I get the same out of the winchester wild cat ammo as well. I only buy the American eagle now as its the only ammo that works well in all my 22's, which means I only have to keep track of one type of ammo, Every once in a while, if I want to show up my buds I'll spring for some match or low velocity ammo;) lol They still havn't figgured it out!!
