Cleanest powder, 9mm, Indoors range

A few years ago I shot indoors with a guy that cast his own lead bullets, and then powder coated them in his oven. The PC bullets were almost as smoky as a plain lead bullet. Much more smoky than plated/FMJ.
A comparison like this is meaningless unless all things (primer, powder charge, gun) are equal except the bullets. As has been noted by B and Hatman1793 the PC does not burn off like conventional lube so logic dictates that there will be less smoke generated by a PC bullet than a standard lubed bullet.

I have shot PC and jacketed bullets same powder, primers slightly different powder charge but same velocity. I did notice more smoke with the PC bullets over the jacketed. But also observed that powder coating def had less smoke than the lubed lead bullets.

All things equal the PCed bullet should have lower peak pressure than a jacketed bullet. As a general rule lower peak pressure leads to a dirtier burn.
