Cleanest shooting black(ish) rifle...

10.5" AR-15 3000 rounds through with out cleaning. Works perfectly still, no visible gun powder build up, although from new it was fired with my hand loads no factory OEM ammo. Love to get my hands on an AK-47 you can fire those with sand in the action supposedly

Why bother? you know it will work :)

I mean, didn't you hear about the guy who poured concrete down the barrel, let it harden, then used fast drying epoxy as lube and it fired all thirty rounds with zero stoppages. :slap:

Got a clip that would be impressive to see if your not pulling my chain lol :runaway:

I own an M-14S and yes, it is clean. It is also a pleasure to clean. Gas cylinder is probably the trickiest part.

VZ-58 has an easy-to-clean design, but because of corrosive ammo, it is actually more of a PITA than the AR-15 because of rust and worry. Plus, the non-chromed barrels are not easy to clean. A normal military-spec or chromed VZ-58 firing non-corrosive ammo would truly be a dream to clean.

AR-15 gets really dirty and has to be taken down into tiny parts regularly, if you want to avoid carbon on your bolt, I find.

SKS is easy to clean except to get at certain parts you have to go through a rather outdated takedown procedure. So, it is not as easy to clean as the VZ-58, IMO.

In order of cleanest, I would say

M-14
VZ-58 (chromed and firing non-corrosive ammo)
AR-15
VZ-58 (non-chromed and firing corrosive ammo)
SKS (chromed and firing corrosive ammo)

I wonder how the Swiss Arms compares to the VZ-58.

...I now keep a small piece of Norton 3x sanding sponge (320 grit) in my gun cleaning kit...this stuff will take the carbon off your gas piston within 5 seconds!!!....available at Home Depot, paint department...try it, you'll love it!!.......
