I've had a CZ 452 Lux for several years now. I had a gunsmith improve the trigger and with Lapua Super Clubs this rifle is VERY accurate.

However I haven't found a way to clean it thoroughly. Obviously with .22 rimfire it doesn't need this often but sooner or later it'll need it.

I bought a special plast bore guide from Sinclair that works really well. The trouble is the bore almost seems too small for my regular cleaning rods or .22 cal jag. Seriously I cannot run these through without feeling the metal grating....

I clean it now with a cheap .177 cal cleaning kit from Canadian tire for air guns plus a bore snake. This cleans out the powder residue but lead must be building up..

Any suggestions?

Don't use a bore snake. The CZ's seem to have a tight barrel - I use a 20 cal jag when cleaning my cz452, you will have to get a smaller cleaning rod

How often do you guys clean the barrel? I wipe mine down pretty often and clean the bolt, but the guy at the shop got me all paranoid saying that metal brushes will just ruin the inside and not to sweat cleaning out a 22. I've heard some guys say never, sometimes or after every shoot. Not sure what's necessary and I'm still new at this stuff?

I run a .17 boresnake through mine every now and again but just dry though when I can see residue in the barrel. The .22 sized one was way too tight I didn't even try pulling it through. Only at the end of the year I'll use some solvent and let it sit for a few minutes before running dry ones, but I've never taken a metal brush to it or given it an intense cleaning as I was under the impression that you shouldn't unless absolutely needed to.

I have a .20 caliber "Dewey" rod, which is nylon coated, and an adapter to run a .22 bronze brush. Bronze is softer than steel.

Lots of people swear after the initial cleaning they seldom clean .22s, but with all those wax tipped lead bullets...I dunno I'd do it eventually. :)

I use the same setup with a bore guide on my cz's, check out rimfirecentral for some really good info on cz maintenance
