Too much cleaning and improper cleaning have ruined as many bores as not cleaning enough. Over-use of lube on the action/magazine will contribute to wood deteriorating over time, and gumming up mecahanical parts.
I strip and clean roughly once a year depending on how much use a gun is getting. I properly clean rifle bores roughly every 50-100 rounds.
I do push one swab down the barrel after every use to remove burned powder residue which can collect moisture and cause pitting.
I don't shoot corrosive ammo any more, but when i did i stripped and cleaned after every outing. It's too much work so i don't shoot corrosive now.
