Never had a problem with damaged brass while SS tumbling.

Dented brass could also result from tumbling small amounts at a time, if your going to clean small amounts in a tumbler that has lots of volume perhaps tossing in a few tennis balls to take up some space will let the brass tumble more rather than get dropped on itself.

SS pins are the way to go. I have cleaned 10's of thousands of cases this way, small batches, large batches.....The pins do not damage the brass in anyway.
