I was cleaning my older Browning .308 today with a new set of cleaning stuff from remington. I got the .30cal brush about 4 inch's in from the breech and the brass push rod snapped in my hand. So then I grab a pair of pliers to try pull that brush out and I yanked the rod end right out of the brush. SO now I have a nice brush stuck in my barrel.
What are my options? I was thinking of taking it to a smith, I'm sure they have some kind of pushing tool.

You could also get one of those long wooden dowels (rods) from canadian tire. I believe they come slim enough, and long enough to clear the barrel.

Ya that might work. I really don't know why that brush was so hard to push in.

Was the brush dry? Put some lubicant down the breech.. WD40 spray, or somesuch. Use the dowel and this should get things moving.

"...I'm sure they have some kind of pushing tool..." Yep. Usually a Mk I 1/4" brass rod and a plastic mallet. Mind you, you can try screwing another cleaning rod onto the brush. Norm's WD-40 or other lube is a good idea whether you bash it out or use another rod.

Is this gun you are cleaning a Bolt action? If you decide to buy a new cleaning rod I would suggest one piece only. Several exist from SSteel to Nylon coated steel and or Fiberglass. I use SSteel only with a good rod guide it is well worth the few extra dollars to keep your rod from bending and damaging your bore and chamber.

Push it through in the same direction that it went in. If you try to reverse it, the bristles will jam, and brute force would be necessary to reverse them.
Once you have it out, get a quality rod.
