Cleaning equipment, what do you use to protect your investment.

So I've been seeing a lot of different stuff on the market lately and wondering what the other guys use and what they do different to protect a potentially very expensive investment. What brands, which components, like bronze or nylon brushes. Which cleaning solvents and protectors work for you the best.
I've been using the Hoppes system of cleaning components and I've got to wonder if there's something better. Based on all of the choices one has there must be something I'm missing.
Let's hear what you use now and why and what you've tried in the past and won't use again.
 
I use Dewey 1 piece rods for all my guns. Also have Sinclair bore guides for each rifle, just ordered two more this morning. Wipeout for bore cleaning, still have some Hoppes #9 kicking around and a couple of brands of gun oil. Jags and brass and nylon bore brushes for each caliber. Misc brushes, bronze and nylon plus patches for each caliber, bore light, silicon cleaning cloth, stand to hold gun while cleaning, blue towels and rags.
Chamber cleaning kit with all the goodies etc. Think thats about it. Like to take good care of my babies. Cheers Roscoe

How do you find the Nylon Brushes? Do they last? Ive seen those cyclone things but don’t know anyone who uses them. I like the Hoppes rod system with the removable handle but the coating on the rod seems a bit hard. Not sure that makes a difference.

+ Q-Tips , pipe cleaners and a tooth brush , but buy an extra tooth brush 'cause Wipe Out , Patch Out and Hoppes doesn't taste good .;)
 
I use:

Tipton Carbon Fiber Rod
Tipton gun vise
Lucas Bore Guide
Dewey brushes (nylon and bronze)
Gunslick Pro jags in a variety of sizes
Good quality solvents and cleaners (I like Wipe-Out, Butch's,and KG-12)
Butch's Cotton Twill Patches (caliber specific)

I've been told the single most popular important thing to protect your barrel is the bore guide. The caliber specific ones from Sinclair are good and inexpensive ($20); the Lucas one is supposed to be the best because it aligns the rod in the bore and limits the rod flexing, but you need to be able to ship to a US address.

Not to hijack but where does one buy wipeout? I've never heard of the stuff until very recently as people are raving about it on here.

I too have a Hoppes one piece cleaning rod. The coating may be hard but its not very tough. I've already put a scratch on it from one of the rifle groves while I was doing the "calculate your OAL using cleaning rod" technique.

A good jag works well too in my opinion. I also found that the small square patches are the only one that will run through my match .223 barrels. Full size 2"x2" cloths will not unless you cut them into quarters which is a pain since you can buy them in 1"x1" sizes.
 
I use a quality one-piece rod and prefer wipe-out to any other cleaner. I do not usually use a bore brush but when I feel it necessary to do so I prefer a nylon bristle over brass bristle. I do not use bore-snakes or any other pull through unless it is a field expedient. I run patches through until clean.

My personal preference is to clean a firearm after each usage ( probably because over 40 years ago my WWII-vet Father insisted that was the right thing to do ) even though, these days, that is neither necessary or, according to many, even desirable.
 
Well I use the G96 series of solvents and find them to work not bad but my opinion of the coating on the Hoppes one piece rods is still out to jury. I found that it scratches very easy and that worries me a bit. I'd like to know where to get The kg12 stuff I like the low voc and so does the wife. Man she can smell gun cleaner from clear accross the house.
 
KG 12 is good stuff but you have to keep it wet and work it to get best results I prefer Wipe Out for overnight soaking it does not dry out like KG 12. Wipe out also indicates copper with blue on patch vs KG 12 indicates brown on patch. I use both products but use Wipe Out the most.
