Sigh my "cousin" is such a fool. Bought a new cleaning rod and set about cleaning my cz 452 in 22lr. The rod is pro shots 22-26 calibre cleaner.

Anyways the thing gets stuck. Had to wrench on it to get it out which has happened before in my cleaning career. Then I put it back in like a smart guy and I can just feel it scraping. Shudder. Pull the fin thing out and theres rifling marks on the damn cleaning rod.....Gotta wonder what that did to my barrel.

Figure it must have bent in there and then I decided to put it back it was bent and contacting.

So do you guys use smaller than 22 cal cleaning rods? Open to suggestions here. Also....how screwed you think my barrel is?

I would guess that your barrel is fine. I don't know what the inside of most barrels are lined with, but anything harder than brass wont be scratched by it. This is just a guess though.

Your barrel should be fine but you may want to check your barrel for lead buildup. Had a big buildup in my 10/22 and only noticed how bad it was when I couldn't get my cleaning rod through. I used a brass rod to nock out the buildup lead and the barrel was fine.

The bore guide seems to hold the cleaning rod onto the ejector and with a coated rod it will cut the coating.
Stopped using the bore guide and the rod then clears the ejector.

ive had the same problem. my 22cal rods are aluminium so it wont hurt the barrel but they are the exact size of 22cal retarded f:P: you could try a 17cal but the rods are metal so it could damage your barrel (metal is all i can find) i just use 2 bore snakes now, a cleaning snake and then a polishing snake with oil to finish it. theres probably better ways to do it, but thats what i like.

Proshot rods are stainless steel. Some are coated, some aren't.
