Okay, here's today's mystery item (well, a mystery to me at least).
Cleaning kit roll-up containing a takedown tool, pull through, oil bottle and brush. Markings on the tool roll are illegible sadly. Identification welcomed. Thanks.
It's definitely British or at least Commonwealth. The pull through is typical of .303 intended examples and the oiler and brush are normal British type. The multi tool I cannot place off the top of my head but I'm guessing HMG or LMG. The pouch seems to have a lot of Blanco residue on it, another sign of the Anglo-sphere.
As issued with the Australian L1A1 (FN) rifle. British kit is very similar but came in a small green metal tobacco tin carrier similar to the NO 4 and No 5 rifles. Later 70,s issue UK L1A1 cleaning kits were OD plastic. Contained the same accessories as the Australian kit.
The No5 kit was discontinued early in the issue of L1A1's (1964-65) and replaced with the canvas kit (I watched someone blanko one for a lot of my childhood - the joys of having a father in a training regiment) then replaced with the vinyl kit in 1972/73.
